Around the World in 60 Cocktails: Ice Breaker

Silversea’s beautiful Silver Cloud underwent vast refurbishment in 2017 and emerged as perhaps the most luxurious ice class vessel sailing today. Capable of pole to pole exploration, Silver Cloud is as happy in the warm waters of the Mediterranean as sailing the mighty Drake Passage. To say that she “breaks the ice” between luxury and expedition is no understatement!

For those lucky enough to be traveling aboard one of Silver Cloud’s superb Antarctica voyages, a trip to the colossal scenery of the fractured Tierra del Fuego is a must. This Patagonian paradise at the very tip of South America offers national parks, lakes, rivers and waterways… in essence, all of the magic and beauty that Patagonia is renowned for. Named by Ferdinand Magellan when he thought he saw fires on land from his ship (which were, in fact, those of the indigenous Yamana people who lived in the southern part of the island, in order to ward off the low temperatures in the area) Tierra del Fuego has been topping wanderlust wishlists for years.

And how better to enjoy the fjords of Tierra del Fuego than being right on Silver Cloud’s deck, cocktail in hand. This aromatic drink with natural nuances might not offer the copious trappings of the region itself, but the Supasawa, Pisco and Cocchi Americano cocktail will definitely help you break the ice at your next party!
