Rekindling his passion for Istanbul, his senses were dazzled by the colorful vibrancy of this special place and his creativity stimulated.
A physical and spiritual nexus between East and West, Istanbul is quite unique in its character. McCurry found inspiration in the flurry of the Grand Bazaar, the majesty of the Blue Mosque and the warmth of the city’s people. He spent hours wandering the streets, photographing the destination’s quirks, getting lost, immersing himself in the endless flow of urban energy that pulses through the city. In the shadows of towering minarets and to the rhythmic chant of muezzin calls, McCurry explored Istanbul’s most iconic sights, as well as those less visited by the uninitiated.
Whether through its charismatic culture, its cosmopolitan atmosphere, or its rare sense of romance, the city seems to emit a gravitational force that attracts seasoned travelers like McCurry.
